To fly an Ag Drone you need an exposition.
What is an exposition?
In order to operate a UAV over 25kg and / or to apply agrichemicals, an organisation needs to obtain a Part 102 Unmanned Aircraft Operator Certification (UAOC) from the CAA. A critical part of this process is the submission of an exposition (safety document) which is a document that outlines how you'll operate, who's responsible, and how you manage risk.
The ADA Exposition Consultation Service
The Agricultural Drone Association Association has negotiated a significant discount for its members with DroneTrust, a well-respected New Zealand based unmanned online training and certification organisation, for their consultation service. They will work with you to develop an exposition framework built specifically for agricultural drone operations in New Zealand. It's built on years of CAA submission experience and deep knowledge of what the regulator expects from ag operators - and it means we can move faster and produce better-structured expositions than starting from scratch. Every exposition is written and reviewed by our team, tailored to your specific operation, personnel, and risk profile.
Here's how it works:
- Once you've contacted Drone Trust as an Agricultural Drone Association member and purchased the service through DroneTrust at member rates, you will receive a detailed form to complete.
- The team builds the first version of your exposition and consults with you on the supporting documents you'll need for submission to the CAA.
- You need to obtain the following documents:
- Criminal record check from Ministry of justice
- Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency demerit points and suspension history
- Criminal record history (including traffic offences) for any countries you have lived in for more than 6 months in the previous 5 years
- Finally, you will submit all the relevant application forms and documentation to the CAA, at which time you will enter the queue for processing.
The CAA approval process currently takes around 8 months, so starting your exposition early is important.
The full Exposition Consultation Service is $4,025 inclusive of GST.
ADA members receive the full service for $2,025 inclusive of GST - a $2,000 discount.
